The first performance of the group took place in 1983. During the traditional Dożynki Śląskie festiwal group of young people presented few Silesian dances and songs prepared under the direction and choreography of Dagmar Palarčík. Their fascination of folklore deepened over time and after some time they decided to form an actual regional dance group. Artistic and organizational leaders included Tadeusz Farny, Adam Palowski and Marcin Pisula.
Both local sources and professional development were used during the preparation of the programs, and above all the excellent dance forms and ingenuity of the already mentioned Adam Palowski are to be credited for the success. Under his direction, the most interesting shows were made in 1986, 1988 and 1991. They were, in order: the mining story – Skok przez skórę, full length spectacles – Postawiym ci moja and Ej zolyty, zolyteczki.
The programs mentioned above were successfully presented during the Festival of Polonia Folklore Ensembles in Rzeszów (PL) in 1986 and 1990, the International Folklore Festival in Strážnice (CZ) in 1987 and the Beskidy Culture Week in Wisła (PL) in 1989 and 1991. Performances for the Poles living in Lithuania were also a great experience.
In 1989 the band “Kamraci” is formed, which accompanies dancers and singers during all performances. After the suspension of activities of RFG Błędowice in 1993, it still exists as an independent group presenting songs and dances of Cieszyn Silesia in the Czech Republic, Poland and the Netherlands.
On May 8th, 2004, at the initiative of Mrs Dagmar Palarčík, ZR Błędowianie is founded in Błędowice, with Mali (Little) Błędowianie following two years later. They chant tradition, present colourful spectacles, dance and sing under the watchful eye of their coach who is joined in 2009 by Marcin Pisula.
Jolanta Kożusznik and Henryka Łabudek coach the young ones in Mali Błędowianie. In Autumn 2013, Dagmara Palarčík passes the coaching baton to Sabina Glac, who immediately begins preparing the program “Andrzejkowe wróżyni, z życzyniami chodzyni” for the 30th anniversary of the group. Along with the new management the group also returns to its traditional name Zespół Regionalny Błędowice and Dagmara Palarčík together with Henryka Łabudek and Jolanta Kożusznik take care of children in Mali Błędowianie. Since 2015 coach Sabina Glac is assisted by Dorota Pawlasová. Then they co-lead the ensemble together.
During 2010 – 2015, a group of singers accompanying the dance group has appeared in many shows. They were called simply “Kamraci z kamratkami” (Friends), composed mostly of people connected with the group from the very beginning in 1983.
In 2018, ZR Błędowice celebrated the 35th anniversary of its activity and prepared a completely new program entitled “Listen to me, schuhajks …”, also known as the recruiting program. This program was highly appreciated by the professional as well as the amateur part of the audience. It was also the last project of coach Sabina Glac.
The next phase of the ensemble began in 2019, when Krystian Olszowski became its artistic director. Organizational matters were taken over by Dorota Pawlasová. Together with the new management, the ensemble expands its repertoire with Czech dances and Kraków dances, and also performed at prestigious festival ŚFPZP in Rzeszów (PL).
From April 2022, the ensemble artistically led Anna Kadlubcová and Weronika Siwková, the main leader is Dorota Pawlasová. Currently, a group of about 25 young talented people dances in the ensemble, supported during performances by cooperating groups: the Kamraci and Partyja bands, the vocal group Kamraci z kamratkami and children ensemble Mali Błędowianie.
The ensemble had several successes. It won the competition “We are like this”, “PZKO Initiative”, regularly performs at prestigious international folklore festivals such as: Gorolski Święto in Jabłonków (CZ), IFF Strážnice (CZ), Vsetínský krpec (CZ), Week of Culture Beskidzka in Wisła, ŚFPZP in Rzeszów (PL), FF Východná (SK). The ensemble often performs on foreign stages. In the past it has performed, for example, in Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Italy, Montenegro and other countries.
